Early British Kings

The table below is an attempt to map the interconnected timeline of the early kings who ruled in Great Britain leading up to the time that Regia Anglorum represents – when King Æthelstan ousted the last of the Viking rulers and established a united England. It is a long intertwined list and the different colours are meant to help as a guide so you can see to what dynasty a king might have identified with.

Note that the vague geographical divisions denoted by each column were by no means fixed, Æthelberht I of Kent probably governed a very different geographical area from Æthelberht III, for instance. It is therefore doubtful that this list contains the required information to plot the ebbing and flowing of dynastic influence on a map.
